6 steel and wooden Benches / man of la mancha / triad stage 2019

I began this process by creating a cut list for both our metal and wood needs. We ordered our steel to be delivered, and I went to the lumber yard to select our ash boards. I created a jig for the steel frames, welded the bases, and ground down the metal to match the designed finish. I cut all boards to length and width, used the drill press to make bolt holes, and then I stained and sealed the boards with shellac. Finally, I used wooden spacers and quick-grip clamps to hold the boards in place in order to make the corresponding bolt holes in the steel. I then used carriage bolts to attach the boards to the frames before handing them over to the cast and team.

WOoden telephone booth / two trains running / triad stage 2019

The telephone booth was designed by the prop master from research images. Using a SketchUp draft, I purchased lumber, formed my cut list, and assembled the box. I used the router table to cut rabbets for the plexiglass door window panes to rest in. I attached moulding to trap the plexiglass to complete the doors. I then used the router table to cut a groove into the tracking board for the doors. I assembled the phone booth, painted with a glaze, and sealed with amber shellac.

CANDLESTICKS / PERSONAL PROJECT 2018

First, I turned blanks on the lathe. Afterwards, I made the bases and mounts, attached together, painted, and sealed.

CORPSE CART / A CHRISTMAS CAROL / HANGAR THEATRE 2017

I designed the cart to fit through doorways and around tight backstage corners and voms. I sourced scrap materials in the shop, constructed the frame and axel, and painted cart. I then dressed a dummy form, including a head with hair and shoes, and covered with a sheet for the final prop.

WEDDING ARBOR / PERSONAL PROJECT / OCTOBER 2017

I sourced local down wood, inserted steel pipe legs into ground and posts, built frame, and decorated for the wedding.

SWEETHEART TABLE & GUEST SIGN POST / PERSONAL PROJECT / OCTOBER 2017

I purchased materials, built and painted platform, and attached archway. I dressed the archway, table, and platform. I crafted the heart from fallen autumn leaves and cardboard. I built and painted sign the town sign, and included distances that guests had traveled to the event.

RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CROSS / DIMITRIJ / BARD SUMMERSCAPE 2017

I cut wood to size, cross lapped the intersections, and added moulding to all sides. I used wood filler to smooth out details and seams. I spray-painted the cross gold, tarnished for depth, and secured to a steel plate base.
